Target Details Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Plans, In-Store Availability

Everything you need to know before June 5.

In a new email sent to customers, Target has revealed its plans for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch. The email details the process of in-person purchasing as well as how you can purchase it online after the initial launch on June 5.

The email states that customers can start lining up at the designated queuing location before the store opens on Thursday, June 5. Target team members will distribute limited tickets, which will reserve their Switch 2 for purchase. Ticketing will continue until customers fully claim all tickets or once there are 10 minutes left before the store opens.

Once Target opens, employees will direct ticket-holders to the Electronics section where they will purchase their console. Each customer can only purchase one console. On June 6, limited quantities of the Switch 2 will be available once again on the Target.com online store.

Nintendo Today has previously confirmed that video captures on the Nintendo Switch 2 will still be 30 seconds long, just like its predecessor. The original Nintendo Switch recorded video at 720p/30 FPS, and it’s likely that Nintendo Switch 2 will record footage at 1080p. It’s worth noting, though, that Nintendo has also now blocked users from taking screenshots and screen recordings in the app

Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5 for $449.99. A bundle will be available for $499.99 featuring Mario Kart World. Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 at Best Buy, Walmart and Target went live on April 24 and quickly sold out within just a few hours. However, Nintendo and other retailers will periodically replenish stock leading into launch. Other games like Cyberpunk 2077 and upgrade packs for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will also be available upon release.
