The Pokémon Company and Game Freak announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A will launch on October 16 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Players who purchase either the physical or digital version for Nintendo Switch may upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing an upgrade pack on the Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store.

In addition, The Pokémon Company will host a Pokémon Presents digital presentation on July 22 on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. Ahead of the game’s release, new Mega Charizard X and Y, Mega Venusaur, Mega Gengar, Mega Lucario, and other themed merchandise will be available at Pokémon Center in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A takes players back to the Kalos region. Specifically, the game is set inside Lumiose City, which undergoes a major redevelopment plan by the large corporation Quasartico Inc. At the center of the city is its major symbol, Prism Tower. When night falls, Pokémon Legends: Z-A players may battle other Pokémon Trainers in Lumiose City’s Z-A Royale.
When players arrive in the region, they stay at an old hotel named Hotel Z. The hotel is run by AZ, a man who is nine feet tall and claims to be over 3,000 years old. Additionally, the player’s rival is Urbain or Taunie, depending on the appearance players choose at the beginning of the game.
The starter Pokémon for Pokémon Legends: Z-A are Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile. In combat, players can now move and dodge with their Pokémon, giving them more control. The player character can also wear a bracelet that allows Pokémon to unleash their Mega Evolutions. Lumiose City has designated “wild zones” using cutting-edge technology. In these zones, players can battle Pokémon and catch them by throwing Poké Balls.
