According to a report from Nintendo Soup, the Nintendo Switch 2 day one shipment in Japan will reportedly include over 1 million units. The statistic comes from a combination of numbers pulled from the pre-order lotteries from My Nintendo Store and several other retailers.
In the first pre-order lottery for the Nintendo Switch 2 in Japan, My Nintendo Store allocated 517,987 systems to participants. The second lottery allocated 281,426 units. Combined with the approximately 428,257 sets from Amazon Japan and Yodobashi Camera, an estimated 1,227,670 units will be available in Japan at launch. This would make it one of the biggest console launches in the country’s history.
Nintendo previously showcased its official Nintendo Switch 2 carrying case in the Nintendo Today app. The carrying case has enough room for six game cards and two Joy-Con 2 straps, along with the actual Nintendo Switch 2 console and Joy-Con 2 controllers, and it will be available at Nintendo.com and retailers.
Nintendo Today also confirmed that video captures on the Nintendo Switch 2 will still be 30 seconds long, just like its predecessor. The original Nintendo Switch recorded video at 720p/30 FPS, and it’s likely that Nintendo Switch 2 will record footage at 1080p. Further details were not revealed yet, however.
Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5 for $449.99. A bundle will be available for $499.99 featuring Mario Kart World. Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 at Best Buy, Walmart and Target went live on April 24 and quickly sold out within just a few hours. However, Nintendo and other retailers will periodically replenish stock leading into launch. Other games like Cyberpunk 2077 and upgrade packs for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will also be available.
