Nintendo has added new icons based on the several consoles featured as Nintendo Classics for Nintendo Switch Online members. These Nintendo Classics icons may be redeemed with My Nintendo Platinum Points.
The icons will be available in the following three waves:
- Wave 1 (Nintendo Entertainment System & Nintendo 64): May 20 at 6:00 p.m. PT – May 27 at 5:59 p.m. PT
- Wave 2 (Game Boy & Game Boy Advance): May 27 at 6:00 p.m. PT – June 3 at 5:59 p.m. PT
- Wave 3 (Super Nintendo Entertainment System & Nintendo GameCube): June 3 at 6:00 p.m. PT – June 10 at 5:59 p.m. PT
It’s worth noting that a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership is required for Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and GameCube icons.
Nintendo added Rare-developed classic Nintendo 64 fighting game Killer Instinct Gold to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on May 16. Killer Instinct Gold is playable within the Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Switch Online app on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
On June 5, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and SoulCalibur II will be available for the service via Nintendo GameCube Classics on Nintendo Switch 2. Later, Nintendo will add Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Super Mario Strikers, Chibi-Robo, Luigi’s Mansion, and Pokémon Colosseum.
Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5 for $449.99. A bundle will be available for $499.99 featuring Mario Kart World. Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 at Best Buy, Walmart and Target went live on April 24 and quickly sold out within just a few hours. However, Nintendo and other retailers will periodically replenish stock leading into launch. Other games like Cyberpunk 2077 and upgrade packs for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will also be available.
