In an interview, Neil Druckmann announced that he is working on another game at Naughty Dog. It is the second game that we know of which is in development at the studio, with the first being Intergalactic: The Heretic Project.
While describing his process on Intergalactic and the directors/writers he works with, Druckmann states the following: “Then there’s another game that’s being worked on at Naughty Dog where I’m in more of a producer role and I get to mentor, watch this other team, and give feedback and be the executive in the room. I enjoy all those roles, and the fact that I jump from one to the next makes my job very exciting and always feeling fresh.”
While Druckmann is directing Intergalactic, he will only be producing this second game. It is unknown whether it will be part of an existing franchise or a new one. However, due to his frequent hands-on approach to the series, it is unlikely that it will be a new entry in The Last of Us franchise.
Currently, season 2 of The Last of Us show is airing on HBO and HBO Max. The season finale will air on Sunday, May 25. That said, Season 3 is currently in development. In a recent interview, Maizin reconfirmed that they plan to tell the story of The Last of Us Part II across multiple seasons.
In April 2025, PlayStation and Naughty Dog released The Last of Us Complete Edition, a collection that includes both The Last of Us Part I and Part II. The collection is available now digitally for PlayStation 5. A collector’s edition, which includes a steelbook case, a comic, set of four lithographic art prints, and a thank you letter from Druckmann, will release in July
