The Nintendo Today app has revealed a new look at some of the features on the home screen for the Nintendo Switch 2. This includes new sounds for the user interface and that each Nintendo Account will have its own separate news feed.
All of the buttons on the home screen user interface for the Nintendo Switch 2 will have new sounds, from the settings to the controller menu. Additionally, the console will also play a sound when it players wake it up from sleep while in docked mode. Further, each Nintendo Account will now have its own feed in the News app. In the original Nintendo Switch, all news was gathered into one app, which could make navigation difficult if the accounts were from different regions.

Recently, Nintendo confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) in handheld mode only at launch on June 5. Originally, the official website stated that Nintendo Switch 2 supports VRR on compatible TVs, but Nintendo has since apologized and corrected this. However, it’s still possible that a new update could come at a later date to bring VRR support in docked mode. The system will also feature text-to-speech and live subtitles for the GameChat feature.
Additionally, Nintendo recently confirmed several free Nintendo Switch 2 updates for 12 first-party Nintendo Switch games. These updates will include free visual upgrades, improved frame rates, GameShare and GameChat support, and HDR support. Updates will be available on June 5 for ARMS, Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, and more.
Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5 for $449.99. A bundle will be available for $499.99 featuring Mario Kart World.
