Armiger Entertainment has announced that its Kickstarter for the omnibus collection of the Tenchi Muyo! comic has passed its Kickstarter goal. The Kickstarter goal was $50,000 and it has received over $100,000 and counting.
Tenchi Muyo! is a manga series that initially released in 1994. An anime adaptation, titled Tenchi Universe, released in 1995. To appeal to a broader American audience, a comic book adaptation by JD Calderon and Matt Lunsford released in 1997. The omnibus will re-release the entire comic book series in one collection in one trade paperback. The contents of the re-release are as follows:
- All 6 issues of the American Tenchi Muyo! comic collected in one trade paperback.
- A unique hardcover version with a cover based on the original wraparound cover of issue #1.
- A digital PDF of the entire comic.
Fans have until May 18 to fund the Kickstarter. So far, it has already reached $109,000, more than doubling its initial goal of $50,000. Armiger Entertainment describes the story of the Tenchi Muyo! and the comic book adaptation as follows:
Tenchi Muyo! is an interstellar adventure comedy that puts Tenchi, an ordinary high school student, in outrageous adventures that are truly out of this world.
The comic storyline, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki’s Day, follows the Tenchi household as they return from another adventure, only to find that many in the galaxy have their eyes on them: A skilled hunter of cabbits after Ryo-Ohki, a wannabe space pirate obsessed with Ryoko, and the woes of the postal service as Sasami wonders if she’ll ever receive the package she ordered!
