The city of Anvil has its fair share of unique quests to complete in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and The Ghost Ship of Anvil might be one of the most rewarding to do early on. In this guide, you will learn where exactly to find The Ghost of Ship of Anvil and what rewards you can get by completing the quest.
Anvil is located on the southwest edge of Cyrodiil, west of Kvatch in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. At Anvil, you can head to the Anvil Docks by heading out the Anvil Dock Gate. There, an Altmer named Varulae is standing on the deck of a large ship known as The Serpent’s Wake. She will be panicking about her crystal ball, which is hard to retrieve due to ghosts that have taken over the ship. These ghosts replaced the crew, who were mysteriously murdered on their way back from the Summerset Isle.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered – How to Complete The Ghost Ship of Anvil Quest
To start The Ghost Ship of Anvil in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, speak to Varulae on The Serpent’s Wake to hear her story. She will ask you to go down to the cargo hold and recover her crystal ball, and if you agree, you will be given a key to enter the ship from the deck. Before going inside the ship, it’s worth noting that you will be fighting five Spectral Sailors, who are immune to normal physical weapons. However the ghost-like enemies can be defeated with ranged magic spells and enchanted weapons, including the Long Sword of Flames, quite easily. When a ghost dies, it leaves behind a Steel Cutlass, which can also be used to fight against them as well.
Varulae’s Crystal Ball is located in a treasure chest in the cargo hold, so this quest is very straightforward. To get to the bottom, you will need to proceed through two trap doors. Before reaching the cargo hold, be sure to search the Dead Captain’s body in the room on the first floor for the Serpent’s Wake Captain’s Key, as it can open the Captain’s Chest. The treasure chest contains a plentiful amount of randomly generated loot.
Return to the top deck and speak to Varulae to give her the crystal ball and complete The Ghost Ship of Anvil. In return for your generosity, Varulae will give you Redwave, an enchanted Steel Cutlass. On top of strong attack damage, Redwave can inflict 15 points of Drain Health for 6 seconds, making it a strong weapon early in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Since it’s enchanted, Redwave is great against other ghost enemies going forward.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is available now for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
