Sugoroku-Style Game ‘Tensei Game’ by Yuji Horii and Muneyuki Kaneshiro Announced

From the minds of Dragon Quest and BLUELOCK.

Any and developer ArtePiazza have announced Tensei Game, a new sugoroku-style game advised by Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii and BLUELOCK creator Muneyuki Kaneshiro. Tensei Game will launch in 2026 for Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop in Japan, and it will only be playable in Japan.

Tensei Game focuses on the themes of reincarnation, karma, and fate. Players compete to “reincarnate” by sabotaging each other. As players repeatedly reincarnate, they will use karma to impede and betray other players. It’s a game designed to “ruin your friendships,” as the closer someone gets to victory, the more their friendships will be tested or even fall apart. The game’s setting is “Rinnekai,” a dark fantasy world in the afterlife where players encounter characters that will aid them in this realm. Currently, Any is considering a multimedia approach for Tensei Game, including anime, merchandise, and content on TikTok.

The staff of the new project includes:

    • Planning and Production: Any
    • Advisor: Yuji Horii
    • Original Concept: Muneyuki Kaneshiro
    • Game Director: Ayaka Sato
    • Character Designer: Shintarou Majima
    • Project Director: Koyakky (YouTuber, Ikushimaru.com)
    • IP Commerce Strategy and Service Provider: SUPER STUDIO
    • Development and Publishing: ArtePiazza

Kodansha initially began serializing BLUELOCK in 2018. Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura’s series focuses on the Japanese Football (Soccer) Team trying to become the best in the world after finishing sixteenth in the 2018 World Cup. The anime adaptation is available on Crunchyroll, and the manga is available on Kodansha’s website.
