Fortnite Returning to US iOS App Store Next Week

The new Star Wars season will release on May 2.

Epic Games has announced that Fortnite will return to the US App Store on iOS devices starting the week of May 5, thanks to a new ruling from the courts. The court order states that Apple will no longer be able to take a commission from purchases made outside of the App Store.

Apple initially took Fortnite off of the App Store due to Epic Games having its own store front within the game, which went against Apple’s rules. The two companies have been in an ongoing legal battle ever since, but the recent court order tipped the odds in Epic’s favor. In a statement, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said the following about the ruling:

“We will return Fortnite to the US iOS App Store next week. Epic puts forth a peace proposal: If Apple extends the court’s friction-free, Apple-tax-free framework worldwide, we’ll return Fortnite to the App Store worldwide and drop current and future litigation on the topic.”

Recently, Epic Games announced that the next season will feature characters from the Star Wars universe. The season will feature characters such as Chewbacca, Darth Jar Jar, Emperor Palpatine, and more. There will be new weapons, maps, Fortnite Festival music tracks, and even customizable lightsabers. The season, titled Galactic Battle, will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android devices on May 2. Check out the trailer for Fortnite: Galactic Battle below:

Fortnite will be available on iOS devices throughout the United States via the App Store starting at some point during the week of May 5.
