Earlier this month, TOHO confirmed that Godzilla has been nominated for two 2025 Licensing International Excellence Awards. Specifically, the IP has been nominated for Best Live Action Brand and Best Hardlines or Packaged Goods Collaboration. Additionally, a recent article from Bloomberg Japan revealed that the next film from director Takashi Yamazaki will be a direct sequel to Godzilla Minus One. Yamazaki directed the original film, which released in 2023.

Godzilla Minus One focuses on a different, more rageful iteration of the titular monster. The movie received an Oscar for best visual effects. While TOHO has not confirmed any official details about the follow-up’s story, in a previous interview, Yamazaki stated that he wanted a sequel to have “a more serious tone of kaiju-versus-kaiju with human drama.”

WEBTOON and IDW also announced a collaboration where they would digitally publish the Godzilla: Unnatural Disasters anthology comic. It will be available to read on the WEBTOON website starting on April 25.

The Godzilla Galaxy Odyssey manga will release on May 27. Further, an art exhibition dedicated to Godzilla is available now in Roppongi Hills until June 29.
