Id Software has revealed a new trailer for DOOM: The Dark Ages, focused on a new area of the game known as The Cosmic Realm. The game will release on May 15.
The Cosmic Realm is a dark world that evokes the cosmic horror works of authors such as H.P. Lovecraft and Robert W. Chambers. In story, a new unholy union formed by Hell and the Cosmic Realm has created new monsters for the Doom Slayer to fight. These include the Cosmic Baron, a newly designed Cacodemon, and what appears to be Cthulhu himself. The trailer also showcases a new weapon, known as the Reaver Chainshot.

The Dark Ages is set to bring the world of DOOM to medieval times for the very first time. Additionally, the game is a prequel to both DOOM (2016) and DOOM: Eternal. Steam describes the game as the following:
DOOM: The Dark Ages is the prequel to the critically acclaimed DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal that tells an epic cinematic story of the DOOM Slayer’s rage. Players will step into the blood-stained boots of the DOOM Slayer, in this never-before-seen dark and sinister medieval war against Hell.
As the super weapon of gods and kings, shred enemies with devastating favorites like the Super Shotgun while also wielding a variety of new bone-chewing weapons, including the versatile Shield Saw. Players will stand and fight on the demon-infested battlefields in the vicious, grounded combat the original DOOM is famous for.
DOOM: The Dark Ages will release on May 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
