The world of video game reviews is constantly evolving with each passing year, and 2025 is no exception. Earlier this year, a new video game review aggregate platform was launched: CriticDB. This platform, while similar to Metacritic and OpenCritic, has many different goals.
CriticDB aims to bring together players, developers, publishers, PR, and media into one platform, acting as a place of discovery for both games and outlets. Not only can you check out scores from outlets as a reader, but you can also look at individual writers and their score history for reviews.
Unlike Metacritic and OpenCritic, every outlet is given the same weight on review scores. This helps all outlets, whether large or small, contribute equally to aggregated scores in a meaningful way. Previews are also included and part of CriticDB, allowing for an easy collection of articles covering upcoming games.
As the name implies, CriticDB isn’t just about critics, though. This platform acts as a database for all, allowing you to discover games of all sizes. You can find similar games on each game page, or even wishlist games you are looking to play later. With so many games released each week, a platform like CriticDB is imperative to allow indie games to be discovered.
Each user has the ability to track when they started a game and beat it, in addition to scoring it. It’s the perfect way to track each game you play, as you can keep track of your collection one game at a time. If you have a huge backlog to tackle, CriticDB will allow you to visualize it.
