Hololive EN VTuber Gawr Gura Will be Graduating in May

Gura also released an official announcement video.

    Published:

During her latest livestream, Hololive EN VTuber Gawr Gura has just announced that she’ll be officially graduating from the company on May 1, 2025. According to Gura herself, the reason for her graduation has been due to “disagreements with management and company direction”.

Since her debut as a member of hololive EN -Myth- five years ago, Gawr Gura has touched the hearts of fans around the world, become a beloved face for VTubing in its early stages, and played an instrumental role in the growth of hololive production. Even if you aren’t into the hololive sphere, there’s a good chance you might’ve at least heard of her.

Unfortunately, Ceres Fauna and Murasaki Shion have also stated in the past that their graduations also stem from these same reasons. Fans speculate that the reason for the many graduations has been due to how the company has been directing towards prioritizing more dancing and idol-related content.

According to the official notice posted to the Cover website, fan letters directed to Gawr Gura will be accepted until May 1, 2025, and membership and exclusive member content will still be available until August 1, 2025, by which afterwards, it will be deleted from Gawr Gura’s YouTube channel. This also applies to any livestream VODs.

You can watch Gura’s livestream about it below:

Following Final Weapon’s interview with COVER Corporation CEO Motoaki Tanigo (YAGOO) in November 2024, we had the opportunity to follow up and interview Holoearth and hololive Alternative producer Yuuki Oooka. In the interview, Oooka discusses the main sub-projects of Holoearth, development of the platform, new features in consideration, and its expansion in global markets. The producer also discussed Holoearth’s plans with hololive production and what it could mean for VTuber-related content in the future.
