Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Preview – Back Into the Groove!

A collection you won’t want to miss!

    Published:

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is releasing very soon, and I know that many fans are excited. This collection includes Classic Capcom fighters such as Capcom vs. SNK 2, Plasma Sword, and Project Justice. The fact that so many people can experience these games again on modern consoles for the first time in years is awesome! Excitingly enough, we had the opportunity to experience the collection before its release! While there is so much to talk about, this preview will highlight some of the interesting features Capcom Fighting Collection 2 has to offer, starting with the training mode.

Legacy Fighters With Modern Training Modes

In recent years, fighting game fans have been treated to a wave of re-releases of classic titles. Some of the developers even went out of their way to give them modernized training modes, which are designed to ease newcomers into the games. Capcom continues this practice with Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and it’s fantastic.

Beyond just listing out character move sets, these training modes are packed with customizable settings. Players can make the dummy block, crouch, jump, or even replay recorded inputs. This includes Power Stone 2‘s training mode as well, as you can pick whichever character you want, record the dummy to do things, and much more. Additionally, the move lists are great, with some games providing unique instructions on how to do certain actions like sidesteps in Capcom vs SNK 1 or how to delayed stand in CvS2.

There are also some game-specific settings depending on the game you are playing. For example, Project Justice‘s training mode has the option to display the frames where a character is invincible from attacks. There are also guard crush settings in Capcom vs SNK 2‘s training mode and the option to set the dummy’s safe fall behavior in Plasma Sword.

    Hitbox Viewer Returns!

The Hitbox viewer is another standout addition that returns from the previous Capcom Fighting collections. It visually outlines where your character can land hits, which are the red boxes, and where they can be hit, which are the blue boxes. It makes it much easier to understand spacing and poking potential. The only games that include this feature are CvS1, CvS2, and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper.

Lastly, let’s talk about the quality of life settings that this collection has to offer!

    Many Quality-of-Life Settings

For fans who are wondering, the Marquee Cards also make their return in Capcom Fighting Collection 2. In every game’s pause menu, these cards offer a concise breakdown of a character’s special moves, unique mechanics, and control inputs. Not only are they an invaluable tool for newcomers, but they also just look really cool.

Moreover, in every game, players have the option to input special moves and super attacks with one button. One-button special moves can be done by pressing L1 or LB, plus any direction simultaneously, giving you the intended move you want. Alternatively, you can do one-button super attacks by pressing L2 or LT, plus any direction simultaneously. This is for players who have a difficult time executing certain attacks, giving them an easier route. However, keep in mind that players can use this feature anywhere else except for online ranked matches.

For players who like to do easy arcade mode runs, you can quick save during your playthrough. This allows you to instantly return to a difficult level and keep retrying until you beat it. All you need to do is just go into the pause menu and load the quick save that you saved it from.

    Other Settings

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 also gives you the freedom to customize the way how you want your games to look visually. In training mode, you can change the types of wallpapers, display filters, and display sizes you want. You can also make it to where you don’t have any wallpapers at all. The display size changes the resolution to look full, wide, or the original look, with some 4:3 aspect ratio options on the side.
