Touhou Project creator ZUN announced the next game in his main series, titled Touhou Kinjōkyō: Fossilized Wonders. The game is the 20th entry in the main series.
According to ZUN, Touhou Kinjōkyō: Fossilized Wonders is a “traditional” bullet-hell game that aims to let players enjoy combat in a comfortable way. Players can collect eight strange stones to then challenge enemies, and Reimu and Marisa will be the main protagonists.
A demo of Touhou Kinjōkyō: Fossilized Wonders is planned for release at the “Hakurei Jinja Reitaisai” event on May 5. Afterward, ZUN plans to release the game at Comiket 106, which takes place from August 16 to 17 in Japan. A Steam version is planned, according to the game’s first blog post by ZUN.
In other related Touhou Project news, Alliance Arts and Unknown X will release the PlayStation 4 version of Touhou Danmaku Kagura: Phantasia Lost on April 16. In addition, the second Toby Fox x ZUN collaboration and a new song pack DLC ($6.99) released in February 2025 for the existing Steam version.
The sixth DLC song pack includes ten new songs, and the crossover event features Toby Fox’s arrangement of Touhou Project’s “Necrofantasia” and ZUN’s arrangement of Undertale’s “MEGALOVANIA.” Undertale artist and illustrator Temmie Chang created a new cover illustration for Toby Fox’s new song.
