Kodansha has announced that the Mobile Suit Gundam: THE ORIGIN manga deluxe edition will release in Fall 2025. The manga adapts the 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam anime story by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Hajime Yatate.
The new deluxe edition will include a premium hardcover, a faux leather debossed cover with larger 7.5”x10” trim size, and quality printing of the interior color and black and white pages. It will be available via several digital and physical storefronts.
Recently, according to Variety, Sydney Sweeney is in final talks to star in the upcoming live-action Gundam film. Sydney Sweeney is known for her roles in Euphoria, The White Lotus, The Handmaid’s Tale, Madame Web, Immaculate, and Anyone But You. She will soon star in films such as Echo Valley, The Housemaid, and Scandalous. Bandai Namco Filmworks will produce the upcoming Gundam film alongside Legendary, the film company known for Pacific Rim, Dune, and Godzilla. Jim Mickle (Sweet Tooth) will direct the film.
Bandai Namco initially announced the Gundam film in 2018. Originally, Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) was attached to direct the film. It is currently unknown why he is no longer directing the film. Moreover, Bandai Namco announced the establishment of Bandai Namco Filmworks America to help produce the film and co-finance it.
In January, GKIDS announced it acquired North American distribution rights for the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- anime film. The film premiered in North America on February 28. The weekly TV anime adaptation will premiere on April 8.
