During today’s Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation, RGG Studio and SEGA revealed Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut for Nintendo Switch 2. This is the definitive edition of Yakuza 0 with enhancements for the new console, and it will launch alongside the console on June 5.
Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut includes new never-before-seen story cutscenes with more context and insight into key events and backstories. A new “Red Light Raid” online multiplayer mode will be available with 60 unlockable and playable characters. In this new mode, players can join their friends and take out hordes of enemies. Moreover, the game features the addition of English and Chinese VO along with French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese subtitles.
This marks the second time the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series will make an appearance on Nintendo Switch, following the surprise release of Yakuza Kiwami last year. Speaking of, it was revealed last year that Yakuza Kiwami was selling very well on Nintendo Switch, with RGG Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama stating, “It seems that ‘Kiwami’ is selling like crazy. That’s good. Somehow, the company executives were predicting the number of copies. I was way off. I guess I was a bit too conservative.” With this information, it makes plenty of sense that SEGA would look to bring more of the series to Nintendo platforms.
