Two new consumer-friendly services from Nintendo.

During the March 27 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed its new Virtual Game Card sharing feature for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, along with the new Nintendo Today! app for Android and iOS.

Virtual Game Card is a new feature that lets players manage purchased digital Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 games, allowing players to lend or borrow games with each other on different systems. Users can “eject” the purchased digital title from one console and “load” it onto another. This is possible for users on the same Nintendo Account family group or a second system tied to the account.

Digital games can be lent to a Nintendo Account family group member’s system via local wireless connection. Games that you lend can then be played on a Nintendo Account family group member’s system for two weeks, after which the game will be automatically returned to you. The feature will be available on Nintendo Switch via a system update in late April, and the feature is available on Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.

The new Nintendo Today! app delivers Nintendo content to smart devices. The app acts like a daily calendar with news, videos, and comics for fan-favorite Nintendo games and characters from select franchises. Anyone with a Nintendo Account and compatible smart device can use the free app from the App Store and Google Play, starting today. After the April 2 Nintendo Direct, players can expect more information about Nintendo Switch on the app.
