Adult Swim has released the opening sequence for Lazarus. Kamasi Washington performs the main theme song titled “Vortex.”
Shinichiro Watanabe and MAPPA’s Lazarus is a new original sci-fi anime for Toonami with action sequences by John Wick stuntman and director Chad Stahelski. The anime’s composers include jazz and electronic artists/producers Kamasi Washington (West Coast Get Down), Floating Points (Floating Points Ensemble), and Bonobo. The Boo Radleys perform the ending theme song “Lazarus.”

During Aniplex’s AnimeJapan 2025 live stream, Adult Swim released a new clip for Lazarus, which depicts a prison fight scene. Adult Swim and MAPPA previously revealed 14 new cast members for the upcoming Lazarus anime series. The new Lazarus cast members include:

Lazarus will premiere first in the west on April 5 at midnight EST (effectively April 6) on the Toonami programming block. Episodes will stream the next day on the Max streaming service, and a total of 13 episodes will be released. In Japan, the anime will premiere at 11:45 p.m. JST, according to the anime’s official website. Episodes will stream the next day on the Max streaming service.
