STUDIO4°C and NHK Enterprises has revealed the main cast for Future Kid Takara. Additionally, both companies also released the first promo for the anime.
The main cast of Future Kid Takara includes Yuki Kaji as the titular character. Further, ten-year old actress Honoka Yoshida will play the role of Sara in the series. The series, which fans funded via Kickstarter in January 2023, will premiere at Osaka’s EXPO Hall on September 25, 2025. It is unknown whether the series will be available to watch in the West. The Kickstarter description of Future Kid Takara is as follows:
Future Kid Takara will be an action-packed, family-oriented film set in a dystopian future. The adventure story will feature a girl named Sara who is time warped into the year 2100, where she and the protagonist Takara try to navigate a world ravaged by the effects of global warming.
STUDIO4°C also explains its reasoning for creating the project on its campaign page:
“When commuting to the studio in the last couple years, we’ve felt that days with abnormal weather are becoming more and more frequent…Across Japan, heavy rains and tropical storms cause major flooding nearly every year, with several homes being swept away each time.
We want to make sure that a world that has succumbed to irreversible, terrifying climate change is only realized in animation. While reducing our own CO2 output, we’ve challenged ourselves to tell the story of Takara, a hero who lives in a world of climate disaster, a world which has passed the border line…”
Lastly, Future Kid Takara will premiere at Osaka’s EXPO Hall on September 25, 2025.
