Red Hook Studios have announced that a new mode and DLC for Darkest Dungeon II are available today on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The mode is available for free.

Kingdoms is the name of the mode, and it is described as a “fresh, reimagined structure.” It features three new adventure modules and tasks players with defending the realms against several new enemy factions, such as the beastmen. The Inhuman Bondage DLC adds the Catacombs and introduces the beloved “Abomination” hero. For a limited time, the PlayStation version is available for 33% off.

Darkest Dungeon II initially released in May 2023 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game is a “turn-based roguelike road trip of the damned” where players can “form a party, equip [their] stagecoach, and set off across the decaying landscape on a last gasp quest to avert the apocalypse.”

Darkest Dungeon II is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on PC and Mac. The Kingdoms mode will soon release on Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

Lastly, the Steam page describes it as follows:

Darkest Dungeon is a challenging gothic roguelike turn-based RPG about the psychological stresses of adventuring. Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes against unimaginable horrors, stress, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Can you keep your heroes together when all hope is lost?

Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes through twisted forests, forgotten warrens, ruined crypts, and beyond. You’ll battle not only unimaginable foes, but stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Uncover strange mysteries, and pit the heroes against an array of fearsome monsters with an innovative strategic turn-based combat system.
