TOHO Animation announced a TV anime adaptation of Satsuki Nakamura’s Though I Am an Inept Villainess light novel series is in the works. The anime’s main staff and key visual were also revealed alongside the first official trailer.
Character designer Ai Kikuchi drew the anime’s key visual, while Though I Am an Inept Villainess novel illustrator YukiKana and manga artist Ei Ohitsuji shared new illustrations of their own.

Mitsue Yamazaki directs the Though I Am an Inept Villainess anime at studio Dōga Kōbō. Yoshiko Nakamura oversees the series scripts. As mentioned previously, Kikuchi is the character designer.
Ichijinsha launched Nakamura’s light novel series in December 2020. The manga adaptation by Ohitsuji was launched at the same time in Ichijinsha’s Monthly Comic Zero-Sum magazine. The light novels’ 10th volume ships on April 2. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the series in English.
