David Production has announced that its first original anime, Onmyō Kaiten Re:verse, will premiere in July 2025. Additionally, it also revealed the cast, staff, and first promo for the series.
Taihi Kimura will play Takeru Narehira, Maaya Uchida will play Tsukimiya, and Ryōhei Kimura will Abe no Seimei. Further, Hideya Takahashi will direct the series, Akutō Satō is credited with the plot concept, Hayashi Mori is in charge of series’ scripts, Kazuaki Morita is the character designer, Katsuie Shibata is in charge of worldbuilding and research, Kitsuneiro is responsible for concept art, and Masahiro Tokuda is the composer.

The anime takes place in an alternate version Heian-kyō, the original name of Kyoto and the capital during Japan’s Heian era. This alternate version of the city is named Denji Heian-kyō (The Tranquil Capital of Divine Lightning). A delinquent high schooler named Takeru Narehira resides in our world, but after an unfortunate accident, is transported to Denji Heian-kyō.
After being transported, he meets Tsukimiya, a woman he has seen many times before in his dreams. Moments later, they both encounter an oni monster, and lose their lives. Takeru awakens, stunned to find himself again at Denji Heian-kyō. After realizing he has the ability to go back in time, he resolves to become a sorcerer to save Tsukimiya.
Lastly, Onmyō Kaiten Re:verse will air in July 2025. The Western distributor for the series is unknown, however, David Production will likely reveal more details in the coming months.
