Bandai Namco has revealed a new role for DEATH NOTE Killer Within, titled “Mello.” The role’s objective is to eliminate Kira before L. Additionally, a new patch for the game is available alongside new paid cosmetic DLC.

Bandai Namco describes the new patch as follows:
The new “Mello” role’s objective is to beat Team L to the punch by eliminating Kira first. Mello belongs to neither Team Kira nor Team L.
Mello can fire his gun once per action phase to eliminate a player without the need to have their ID. The gunshot is loud and can be heard by those nearby, so make sure no one is around to notice the noise.
Be careful who you choose to eliminate, Team Kira will win if you eliminate L by mistake.
Mello’s introduction adds a second role capable of eliminating players, making the game faster and more intense than ever before as Team L must scramble to arrest anyone acting shady before Mello can get to them first!
Patch Notes
- Added a new role, “Mello”.
- Added new premium avatars, “Near (Police Unit)” and “Mello (Biker)”.
- Fixed a crash that occurred when using voice chat.
- Updated some of the text in the game.
- Improved stability.

Death Note Killer Within is an online social deduction game for up to 10 players. Players will be split into two teams with different objectives. To win the game, players will need to figure out each other’s identities and either eliminate L who threatens Kira’s power or seize the Death Note.
