Sony have announced that they have donated $5 million to first responders, community relief, and assistance programs amidst the devastating California wildfire. Insomniac, Naughty Dog, and Santa Monica have also pledged their support to the cause. Sony also released a statement confirming their support. In it, they state:

Sony Group Corporation is contributing $5 million to support first responders, community relief and rebuilding efforts, and assistance programs for those affected by the devastating Southern California wildfires.

“Los Angeles has been the home of our entertainment businesses for more than 35 years. We will continue work with our local business leadership to determine how best sony group can support relief and recovery efforts in the days ahead,” said Kenichiro Yoshida, Chairman and CEO, and Hiroki Totoki, President and COO.

Naughty Dog also states the following:

“Naughty Dog is Los Angeles grown, and we are proud to have been part of such a strong and resilient community here for decades and will continue to stand by our own team members and our neighborhood as we work together to rebuild. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the incredible first responders and our partners at SIE and Sony for their support.”

Hopefully, Sony donating money to the wildfire relief efforts will set a precedent for other companies to do the same. If you happen to be in the Southern California area, stay safe and be sure to consult this resource from the DSA for assistance. If you want to donate, there are numerous charities and resources that provide resources to firefighters, such as masks, meals, first-aid kits, and more.
