Genki revealed a new promotional visual for the Tokyo Xtreme Racer game, along with some new details about the game’s content. Players can expect the return of SP Battle, one of the series’ signature features, when the game launches in 2025 for PC via Steam.
In SP Battle, Tokyo Xtreme Racer players earn Spirit Points based on the driving performance exhibited during the race. It is a metric that “quantifies the willpower of drivers.”
The Tokyo Expressway has been faithfully reproduced as the staple track of the series. The complex twists and elevation changes can be a challenge, but adapting can bring some adrenaline-filled racing experiences.
Countless rivals from past titles will appear in the new entry. The race begins with a headlight flash, signifying an on-track battle against rivals with distinctive cars and driving styles. Challengers also lurk in the parking areas, too.
The Tokyo Xtreme Racer series, known as Shutoko Battle in Japan, began in 1994 with Shutoko Battle ’94 for the Super Famicom. In 1999, a sequel was released for the Dreamcast. In 2003, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 releasing for the PlayStation 2. The most recent entry in the series is 2006’s Import Tuner Challenge for the Xbox 360.
Lastly, here’s an official description of the game, via the official Steam page:
