Final Fantasy XVI Director Says Future Games ‘Likely’ for PC & Other Platforms

Multiplatform strategy is coming into play.

Final Fantasy XVI director Hiroshi Takai says future Final Fantasy games are “possible, probably even likely” to arrive on multiple platforms, including PC, on day one. While speaking to GamesRadar+, Takai noted that this was just his personal opinion, but Square Enix’s new multiplatform strategy suggests this is more likely to be a fact going forward.

“I think it’s possible – probably even likely,” Takai said. “That said, the team in charge of each project gets to decide its own policy, so this is just my personal opinion.”

Square Enix recently announced the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI, with the latest of the FF games set to launch on September 17 for Steam. Two versions of the game will be available: a standard edition for $49.99 and a complete edition including all DLC for $69.99. In addition to Steam, FFXVI will also be available to purchase on Epic Games Store. A demo containing the opening segment of the game is now available.
