A new article from Windows Central revealed that Xbox Game Pass would be getting several changes to its price, as well as new payment tiers. The new “Standard” tier will not include day-one games, unlike the main Game Pass plan.
Xbox has been the subject of much discussion in the past year. On the one hand, they have held massively successful conferences dedicated to games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Doom: The Dark Ages, Perfect Dark, and Gears of War: E-Day. On the other hand, they’ve laid off 1,900 employees, shuttered companies like Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin, and hinted at upping the price of Game Pass Ultimate. After two months, we now know that this trend is not showing any sign of stopping.
Xbox Game Pass Reveals Standard Tier and New Prices
A recent Windows Central article confirmed that Xbox would be adding a new tier to their Game Pass service: “Standard.” The standard tier will not allow owners to play new games on the service at the time of launch. It is unknown how long it’ll take for those games to be available to standard owners, but it will likely be a couple of months. The standard plan will be available for $14.99.
Additionally, they also confirmed new price changes to the different payment tiers. Game Pass Ultimate will increase from $14.99 to $19.99. PC Game Pass will go from $9.99 a month to $11.99. Additionally, the annual price for Game Pass Ultimate has gone up from $59.99 to $74.99.
The new changes to Xbox Game Pass will go in effect on September 12.
