Dragon Quest HD-2D Remake Artwork by Naoki Ikushima Unveiled

    A gorgeous piece of art.

Square Enix has officially unveiled the official artwork for both Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake. This artwork for both games is tied together, creating a beautiful connected piece of art for the Erdrick Trilogy. The official Dragon Quest Twitter (X) account shared the following on this new illustration:

“Square Enix designer Naoki Ikushima, who has worked on numerous packaging and character designs for HD-2D titles, was commissioned to create this artwork to signify the Erdrick Trilogy’s new direction.

The inspiration comes from Toriyama-sensei’s illustrations, and in order to continue that tradition, we came up with a composition that portrays the Hero, who was kneeling in Toriyama-sensei’s SFC illustration, standing up and gazing beyond the castle.”

Naoki Ikushima is best known as the Character Designer of Ocotpath TravelerTriangle Strategy, and Octopath Traveler II. Additionally, he has served as a key illustrator on the Live A Live remake and other titles from Team Asano.

Earlier today, Square Enix officially shared the first new look at the upcoming Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, which is set to release on November 14.  If you’re interested in learning more about Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, Final Weapon got the chance to preview the game recently and spent time with both the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions!
