Today at Summer Game Fest, Amazon Games announced New World: Aeternum, an expanded and enhanced edition of New World. Previously, New World was exclusive to consoles, but this release will bring the game to consoles for the very first time.
New World: Aeternum includes a plethora of new features, including the entire base game plus all past updates, the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion, the first-ever large PvP zone, a new 10-player raid, new solo trials for endgame, and so much more. You can also take advantage of an improved and enhanced leveling experience, new character archetypes, and a new revamped system for dialogue.
This new version of New World has been designed and crafted with consoles in mind, so elements like UI, controller navigation, accessibility, aim assist, target locking, and a virtual cursor have been implemented. Additionally, the team has pledged completed feature parity for PC, with cross-play functionality also available. However, I can confirm that cross-saves are not included in this release. You will need to create a new character for console, and the development team encourages this!
Speaking of, I had the opportunity to chat with developers from the New World team, including Game Director Scot Lane, Senior Producer Katy Kaszynski, and more. In this conversation, I confirmed that the team is not planning to offer a physical release of the game at this time.
New World: Aeternum arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 15. The game will be available digitally for $59.99, with a Deluxe Edition available for $79.99. This edition includes a Bear mount and armor skin that allows players to traverse through the world.
