According to a report from The Verge, Microsoft is reportedly developing a Halo: Combat Evolved remaster. Additionally, the game is potentially being considered for a PlayStation 5 release.
Bungie and Microsoft initially released Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001 for the original Xbox system. The game marked the first entry in arguably one of the most beloved gaming franchises in history. Over the years, eight mainline Halo games have released, with the most recent being Halo Infinite. Infinite launched on the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in 2021.
New Halo: Combat Evolved Remastered Version Being Considered for PlayStation 5 Release
According to a recent report from Tom Warren of The Verge, a new remastered version of Halo: Combat Evolved is being considered. The game initially released in 2001, with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, a remastered version developed by 343 Industries, releasing in 2011. At the time of writing, little information about the new remastered version is known. However, according to the report, the game is being considered for a PlayStation 5 release.
This would be a major, yet unsurprising, decision. Recently, Xbox has announced that several of their most recent games would be released for other consoles, including both the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. These games include Pentiment, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Sea of Thieves. Only time will tell if this report is true, and what it will mean for the rest of the Halo franchise, including both The Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite.
Lastly, the entire Halo franchise thus far is available on the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
