Development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake will continue jointly between Ubisoft Toronto and Ubisoft Montréal, with no confirmed release date. The remake was initially revealed in September 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with Nintendo Switch rumors following shortly after the reveal.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake was planned to be released on January 21, 2021, but Ubisoft delayed the title to later in the year. However, a subsequent delay pushed the game indefinitely with no new release date in sight. The game was not shown at Ubisoft Forward during E3 2021, sowing more doubt for Prince of Persia fans.
Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai were the original developers of the remake, before development shifted to Ubisoft Montréal in 2022. Ubisoft Montréal “regrouped on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic.”
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is the first mainline entry in the series in over fifteen years. The game returns the series to its 2D roots and ends up sharing a lot of similarities to the Metroidvania genre. A free update recently added a Boss Attack mode for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown players to enjoy.
Ubisoft and Evil Empire’s The Rogue Prince of Persia is out now in Steam Early Access as well. Evil Empire brings their Dead Cells and roguelike expertise in a unique new entry in the series.
