    Rise of the Ronin Update Adds New Missions, Gameplay Changes

    Various improvements and adjustments have been made.

    Sony Interactive Entertainment and Koei Tecmo announced Team Ninja’s action adventure game Rise of the Ronin will receive a free update this week with new missions and gameplay changes/improvements. This is one of the first major updates for the game following its launch.

    Rise of the Ronin was announced during the September 2022 State of Play, surprisingly many fans around the world. The game’s March 22, 2024 release date was revealed at The Game Awards 2023 alongside a new trailer. Post-launch support is ramping up now, nearly two months after the game’s release.

    Rise of the Ronin Free Update

    The new Rise of the Ronin update will release sometime this week with five new Ally Missions, two new Set Bonuses added to Midnight difficulty, various gameplay improvements, and much more. An exact release date for the new update was not announced yet, so stay tuned for more information.

    In the meantime, here’s a breakdown of the new update, via PlayStation Blog

    New and expanded content

    • 5 new Ally Missions added.
    • When replaying a world in Midnight, you can choose to have Public Order deteriorate again.
    • Level sync selection feature added to missions from Testament of the Soul.
    • Two new Set Bonuses added to Midnight difficulty.
    • Addition of dojo training partners.
    • Add Martial Skill type bonus and raise limit of target score.

    Gameplay Improvements

    • When equipped with the same weapon type on weapons 1 and 2, the number of styles can be expanded to a maximum of 6.
    • Changed the specifications so that special equipment will be given even if the player does not confess.
    • Changed the specifications so that greetings with characters after a breakup will return to normal over time.
    • Adjusted to make it easier for asynchronous characters to be selected.

    Lastly, Rise of the Ronin is available now exclusively for PlayStation 5. A PC version has not been announced.
