Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble Reveals Characters & Special Costume

    SEGA has revealed new details about playable characters in upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, alongside a special costume.

    Up to 16 players may enjoy online play in Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble. Players may also enjoy a new Spin Dash mechanic, a new Adventure mode, multiple multiplayer battle modes, more than 200 new stages, and so much more. Players will have access to several assist features, such as the Rewind feature, Ghost Guide option, Route Guide, and Checkpoint restart. 

    Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble Characters, Customization, and Special Costume

    Players will meet and have access to various characters in Adventure Mode and other modes in Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble. This includes the protagonist AiAi and companions MeeMee, Baby, GonGon, and more. In addition, players will meet original characters like Fes, Tee, and Val while attempting to locate the Legendary Banana in Adventure Mode. 

    Here’s an overview of the playable characters, courtesy of SEGA: 

    • AiAi – The carefree and well-rounded commander-in-chimp of the group. When he’s not busy playing around, AiAi loves to kick back, relax, and enjoy a delicious banana or two, or three.
    • MeeMee – Always positive, kind-hearted, and reliable. MeeMee is the heart of the team who is always at the ready to help those in need. Her ability to stop on a dime makes her ideal for navigating the trickiest of courses.
    • Baby – Highly intelligent for his age, Baby is a cool monkey who uses his nimble size and fast reflexes to deal with complicated courses.
    • GonGon – A former rival, now best friend to AiAi training to become the strongest ape in the world. Using his incredible power, he can barrel through all obstacles and opponents who dare stand in his way.
    • YanYan – Furry-ously fast and fearless, yet a little shy, this fun-loving lemur is a martial arts expert who was trained by her father, the strongest ape in the world.
    • Doctor – A scatterbrain known for his crazy inventions, nothing, not even amnesia, can slow this super smart simian down. His expertise in the Spin Dash will leave all opponents as dazed as he looks.
    • Palette – The newest member of the bunch, Palette is an adventurer who encounters AiAi and the gang and convinces them to join her on a journey to find the Legendary Banana. Her lightning quick speed and spin dash abilities help her create shortcuts and clear courses at a blistering pace.

    Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble features more than 300 customization items, including headwear, clothing, accessories, and actual monkey balls. Many of the items may be purchased in the in-game shop using points earned from regularly playing the game.

    Those playing Battle Mode online against other players can earn a daily bonus through Lucky Monkey Lottery. This virtual capsule machine lets players draw a single ball containing one of many unique items. More items will be added in future updates, including seasonal items and exciting surprises according to SEGA. Of course, players can show off their items by using the in-game Photo Mode.

    For a limited time in select regions, players may subscribe to the SEGA newsletter at by July 2 to receive a special shinobi costume. It’s believed that this outfit was once worn by elite ninjas of the Oboro clan. A code for the costume will be sent with instructions after the game is released in June.
