COLOPL and Kazuma Kaneko Reveal project MASK Mobile Game

"Creating a New Game Experience with God"

In the company’s latest financial results, COLOPL announced the new project MASK mobile game, which is the new project by former Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series character and demon designer Kazuma Kaneko. Kaneko departed ATLUS in 2023 to join COLOPL and work on the new title.

After nearly 35 years at ATLUS, Kaneko decided to put an end to his tenure and explore the creation of new IP. This lead him to COLOPL, where Kaneko will create a new project with a worldwide he created. According to a COLOPL-conducted interview, Kaneko’s new game will also “incorporate the latest technology.”

Kazuma Kaneko’s New project MASK Mobile Game

According to the financial results, project MASK will feature the theme of “Creating a New Game Experience with God,” which already sounds thematically similar to the Megami Tensei franchise. A release date for the new game was not announced, but fans can expect it to release for both Android and iOS. It will likely be released in English as well, so stay tuned.

Kazuma Kaneko’s iconic designs helped shape the identity of the Megami Tensei franchise with the first Shin Megami Tensei game and beyond. Most of the franchise’s vast demon compendium features designs that were created by Kaneko or based on his work. In Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, his designs are still the basis for demons such as the returning Mastema from Strange Journey, nearly a year after his departure.

The next entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on June 14 worldwide. The game is available to pre-order now digitally in the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam for $59.99. In addition, physical pre-orders are available now at participating retailers.
