    Square Enix Matches Pokémon Company’s Donation After January 1st Earthquake

    Square Enix has officially matched The Pokémon Company’s 50 million yen donation to the Japanese Red Cross Society following the January 1 Noto Peninsula earthquake. Both donations will help people and restore areas affected by the earthquake.

    Square Enix is set to have a packed 2024, with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launching next month. The Pokémon Company’s donation is not the first time they’ve sent money to areas affected by disaster. In 2011, they established the Pokémon With You foundation in response to the Tohoku Earthquake.

    Square Enix Donates to Japanese Red Cross Society Following New Year’s Earthquake

    Square Enix recently announced that they have matched The Pokémon Company’s 50 million yen donation to the Japanese Red Cross Society. They made the donation in response to the January 1 Noto Peninsula Earthquake.

    On New Years, an earthquake of magnitude 7.6 struck the western coast of Japan, specifically the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. As of January 5, 94 people have been confirmed dead, including 55 in Wajima. Rescue efforts are still ongoing. Both The Pokémon Company and Square’s donations will undoubtedly help the hundreds affected by the disaster.

    Square Enix’s next game, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, will launch next month. The PlayStation Store describes it as follows:
