Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo confirms that the company is internally discussing the next Ys game in the series, according to a new Gamer.ne.jp interview. The company is also developing the next Trails game, which is planned for a release before the end of September 2024.
The latest entry in the Ys series is Ys X: Nordics, which released on September 28 in Japan for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Traditional Chinese and Korean versions of the game were sold that same day. Just a few months after the game’s launch, Falcom held its annual shareholders meeting in December. Outlets in Japan began to release interviews with president Kondo as well.
The Status of The Next Ys Game at Falcom
According to Gamer’s interview with Kondo, reported by Hansuke on Twitter, Falcom is already discussing the next Ys game. Kondo notes that talks about the new game began “yesterday” in Gamer’s interview, which was conducted on November 28. However, the new game is in its very early stages, so Kondo did not share any specific details.
Falcom is currently developing The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria-, the 20th anniversary title for the Trails series. The story that began in Trails in the Sky and continued through Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure, Trails of Cold Steel, Trails into Reverie, and Trails through Daybreak will take a “dramatic turn.” A young Spriggan and forces from across the continent will converge in Ored as humanity’s greatest undertaking begins.
The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria- releases in 2024 in Japan. In the meantime, visit Final Weapon’s extensive coverage of Falcom RPGs below:
