Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Story, Four-Monster Synthesis and More Detailed

    Begin your journey in Rosehill.

Ahead of launch, Square Enix revealed new details about Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince including the main story, four-monster synthesis, and the Reverse Search feature. Dragon Quest fans will soon embark on a new journey as Psaro, the antagonist of Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen.

Psaro’s father inflicts a curse his son, preventing him from directly hurting monsters. However, Psaro is able to wrangle, command, and fuse monsters for battle. Alongside a new party of companions, monsters will be helpful in Psaro’s ultimate quest for revenge.

The Story of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Story

Psaro’s adventure in the main story of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince begins in Rosehill, a town where monsters and dwarfs live together. Psaro’s father-figure, Monty, helps him gather a party of monsters to start his journey proper. Monsters that Psaro may start with include Platypunk, Fright Bulb, Mud Mannequin, and Cruelcumber. Fizzy will also arrive and train Psaro, helping the protagonist gain his footing as a monster wrangler. Psaro’s new friend will help him notice the changes in the environment with the seasonal system. After completing his training, Monty will encourage Psaro to enter the Endor Colosseum and test his skills in a Monster Megabrawl.

After winning some matches in Category G of Endor Colosseum, Psaro will meet Rose, a kind-hearted Elven girl. Rose has a special ability that helps Psaro reach the monster realm of Nadiria. The pair will visit the lower echelon of the Circle of Conquest and discover the Maulosseum, the place where Nadiria’s most powerful monster wranglers battle. In the central region of the Circle, players may find a lumbering lizard, a powerful enemy that can be defeated once Psaro is stronger. Moreover, Psaro’s reputation will improve after becoming champion of Maulosseum’s Category G, allowing him to easily recruit monsters like Lunatick, Skeleton, and Ghost.

Four-Monster Synthesis and the Reverse Search Feature

In Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, Players have a special method of monster synthesizing called “four-monster synthesis.” Four-monster synthesis lets players create rare monsters after figuring out necessary combinations. These monsters are based on the child monster’s grandparents, so the four grandparent monsters must meet certain requirements. These monsters include Mimic, which is a combination of two Canniboxes, a Well Wisher, and a Bag o’ Tricks.

After returning to Rosehill after winning Maulosseum’s Category G, players gain access to the Altar of Amalgamation. At the Altar, the Reverse Search feature will be active, allowing players to find monsters they’ve yet to encounter. This feature also helps discover more monster combinations.

Lastly, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince launches December 1 for Nintendo Switch, and pre-orders are available now physically at retail and digitally via Nintendo eShop. Pre-orders include the Head Start Set featuring, Stardust Earrings x1, Scholar’s Specs x1, and Bonus Ball x5.
