Players have already begun to complete Super Mario RPG just a few days after its release on November 17, and the game’s credits reveal that Tetsuya Nomura was the character supervisor for the remake. Those who played the original Super Mario RPG for SNES may know that Nomura was also credited in the “Extra Special Thanks” section.
Super Mario RPG is a faithful remake with new HD visuals and gameplay tweaks on Nintendo Switch. What’s more, composer Yoko Shimomura has returned to compose the remake’s soundtrack, and fellow Square Enix staff member Tetsuya Nomura returned to work on the remake as well.
Super Mario RPG Credits – Tetsuya Nomura

As shown in the credits, Tetsuya Nomura was the character supervisor of Super Mario RPG on Nintendo Switch. Nomura likely ensured that the iconic character designs/elements of Super Mario RPG were faithfully depicted in the full HD remake. It’s also worth noting that ArtePiazza, a studio with close ties to Square Enix, developed the remake.
Currently, Tetsuya Nomura serves as the creative director for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and he’s the co-director of Kingdom Hearts IV alongside Tai Yasue at Square Enix. It goes without saying that both of these titles are highly anticipated by Square Enix fans.
