One of the unique characters you can recruit in Star Ocean: The Second Story R is the archaeologist Ernest.
Character Recruitment Basics
There are a few basics of character recruitment to keep in mind on your adventure.
- You can only have a maximum party size of 8 total characters
- Most characters are recruited from Sub Events and Private Actions. Be sure to refer to your map often in order to stay as up-to-date as possible.
- There are a couple of characters that are only available to one of the two protagonists. So choose wisely in order to get who you really want!
- Some characters require you to decline another character’s offer to join you in order to get.
As long as you remember these basics, it’ll be a cinch to get what characters you want. However, sometimes there are extra requirements that you must complete in order to complete the recruitment process.
How to Recruit Ernest in Star Ocean: The Second Story R
Recruiting Ernest hinges almost entirely on if you recruit Opera. Check out her Recruitment Guide! Once you’ve gotten Opera, you should head to Arlia at some point to see her crashed transport in the Sacred Forest. Be sure to refer to your map as I’m unsure of the specific timing of this event. Moving on, if you do these things Ernest will ask to join your party when you reach the point in the story when you visit the Hoffman Ruins a bit after the Armory Contest, Linga, and Laceur Front Line Base events.
