Koumajou Remilia II Adds Playable Reimu and Boss Rush Mode

The iconic Touhou Project mascot returns.

    Published:

CFK and Frontier Aja announced that Koumajou Remilia II: Stranger’s Requiem will include playable character Reimu Hakurei and a new Boss Rush mode. Reimu was the protagonist of Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony, and she will seemingly block Sakuya’s path to progression in the new game.

Koumajou Remilia II: Stranger’s Requiem is a direct sequel to Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony. The sequel includes substantial upgrades to graphics and gameplay, an original story with a new protagonist, and more Touhou Project characters. Chief Maid Sakuya Izayoi will set out on a new adventure on December 14.

Reimu Returns in Koumajou Remilia II

Reimu Hakurei returns as a playable character and a boss character in Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger’s Requiem. She excels at close range combat with her purification rod, but she also has long range paper charms. Players may battle Reimu and other Touhou characters in the game’s Boss Rush mode, and an “Extra-Easy” difficulty mode will be available.

The latest details about the game may be found below, via CFK:

Reimu Hakurei, protagonist of the previous game Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony, becomes a playable character.

Reimu Hakurei, shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine with the ability to float, is slated to appear as a boss who blocks Sakuya Izayoi’s way forward in Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger’s Requiem.

Reimu Hakurei uses her whip-like close range ‘purification rod’ and her long range ‘ofuda’ paper charms, both introduced in the previous game, along with her unique emergency ability, ‘sliding,’ which allows her free movement through the air.

This planned addition gives players a completely different way to enjoy the game when placed alongside Sakuya Izayoi, the original protagonist.

    Boss Rush mode

In this mode, players will be able to topple all of the Touhou characters that appear as bosses in Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger’s Requiem.

There are a number of boss routes lined up, including the Hakurei route and the Scarlet Devil Mansion route, changing up the characters who will appear.

    New Features

The “Extra-Easy” mode, which was added to its previous work and received favorable reviews, will be added. Users can easily enjoy the game by adjusting the level of difficulty. In “Extra-Easy” mode, the enemy’s HP and attack power are lowered.

In addition, a “challenge” element that allows you to check the achievements of various difficulties achieved while playing the game, and a “collection” element that allows you to enjoy events or BGM that you have experienced once while playing the game will be added.

Lastly, Koumajou Remilia II: Stranger’s Requiem releases on December 14 for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
