Rockstar Games has officially released update 1.03 for Red Dead Redemption. The PlayStation-exclusive update adds, among other things, a 60 FPS option on the PlayStation 5 through backwards compatibility.
Rockstar Games released Red Dead Redemption on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in August 2023. The port includes the base game and its expansion, Undead Nightmare. At the time of writing, the video game classic is not yet available on Xbox consoles or PC.
Red Dead Redemption Update 1.03 Patch Notes
The patch notes for Update 1.03 of Red Dead Redemption are available on Rockstar Games’ official website. The update includes the following:
- Added an option to enable 60 FPS when played on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility
- Added an option to enable subtitles upon first booting the game
- General bug fixes and improvements
It is unknown whether the update will be available on the Nintendo Switch. When Rockstar first announced Red Dead Redemption for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch, many hoped it would be a remaster of the original game. While those hopes never came to fruition, the 60 FPS update brings the game closer to that original vision.
