Konami and Shantae developer WayForward announced Contra: Operation Galuga, a new entry in the long-running side-scrolling series. The new title is scheduled for an early 2024 launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Konami states that Contra: Operation Galuga is a “thorough reimagining” of the series with new stages, new enemies and bosses, and more new mechanics. The Galuga Islands will turn into a battlefield in the upcoming title, and its up to Contra soldiers to defeat the Red Falcon terrorists and restore the peace. A new trailer was shown during the September 14 Nintendo Direct, revealing gameplay of the title for the very first time.
