It’s likely that the first chapter of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon hasn’t been too difficult for you. It’s also likely that Balteus is a strong exception to that. Balteus is an unforgiving boss who holds the rest of the game hostage. However, this encounter may not be as hopeless as it seems. Here is how to beat Balteus in Armored Core 6.
Preparation
Before facing Balteus, you will need to make sure you’re properly prepared. It is strongly recommended to equip at least one Pulse Gun to counter the Pulse Armor that Balteus uses. This will allow you to damage Balteus a lot more efficiently. In addition, it’s a good idea to bring a blade and back weapons of your choice.
Be sure to fight any Arena opponents you have unlocked at this point. The OST Chips you earn from these battles can be used to unlock Assault Armor in the OS Tuning menu. This will be a useful tool that makes the task of beating Balteus a little bit easier. If you have already spent all your OST Chips, you can reset them in the OS Tuning menu.
How to Defeat Balteus in Armored Core 6
Balteus is a test of the player’s ability to build and manage their resources effectively. While it’s possible to beat Balteus without optimal equipment, you’re likely going to have a miserable time. It isn’t too difficult to evade the barrage of missiles that can basically kill you instantly once you realize that they follow you, but you need energy to do so.
As soon as the fight starts, you will have an opportunity to seriously weaken Balteus’ Pulse Armor. Approach Balteus with an Assault Boost and ignore the initial wave of missiles. As soon as you are in range, strike Balteus twice with your blade. After this, you will want to stick as close to Balteus as possible, while conserving enough energy to dodge any missiles if necessary.
The second phase is a bit more tricky since Balteus will start using a flamethrower that can be devastating at close range. As soon as you see any flames, it’s wise to start taking evasive actions. Either get away or try to get around Balteus as soon as possible. Otherwise, as long as you have enough energy, don’t be afraid to be aggressive and Balteus will eventually be defeated.
