Nintendo has officially announced that the next Nintendo Direct will be dedicated to Super Mario Bros Wonder. The direct will air on August 31.
Super Mario Bros Wonder is the first new 2D Mario in over ten years. The game will feature six playable characters, local multiplayer, and several new features in mechanics. Nintendo will reveal more information on the upcoming release this Thursday.

Nintendo officially announced the upcoming direct on its Twitter account. According to the Twitter account, the Super Mario Bros Wonder direct will include “an in-depth look at Mario’s latest 2D side-scrolling adventure.” The event will begin on August 31 at the following times:
- 7:00 AM PDT
- 10:00 AM EDT
- 9:00 AM CDT
The event will last approximately fifteen minutes. Fans can watch the Nintendo Direct on Nintendo’s official Twitch and YouTube accounts or their official website, available here. Recently, rumors that Super Mario Bros Wonder will include online multiplayer have surfaced. The rumor will likely be either confirmed or denied this Thursday.
It has been a momentous week for Mario fans, as just a few days ago, Nintendo officially announced that Charles Martinet would no longer be voicing Mario after almost 30 years of service. Nintendo also confirmed that Martinet would not be voicing Mario in Super Mario Bros Wonder. The company will likely reveal more information on the future of Mario’s voice in the coming weeks.
“Charles Martinet has been the original voice of Mario in Nintendo games for a long time, as far back as Super Mario 64,” Nintendo said in an official statement. “Charles is now moving into the brand-new role of Mario Ambassador. With this transition, he will be stepping back from recording character voices for our games, but he’ll continue to travel the world sharing the joy of Mario and interacting with you all!”
Lastly, Super Mario Bros. Wonder will release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on October 30. The Wonder Direct will begin on August 31, 2023.
