The Mortal Kombat 1 Pre-Order Beta is almost here. NetherRealm Studios have revealed that the beta will begin on August 18, with six playable characters, several modes, and more included in the package. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 beta.
How, Where, and When to Play the Beta
The Mortal Kombat 1 beta is available for players who have pre-ordered the game. The game is available now for pre-order for $69.99 at all local and online retailers. However, regardless of what console you order the game on, the beta will only be available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners. If you own a Nintendo Switch or PC and hope to get an early look at the game, you’ll, unfortunately, have to wait until the game’s release in September.
Lastly, the beta will begin on August 18 and last until August 21. NetherRealm Studios has not yet confirmed the exact time that the beta will start and end.
What Characters Will Be Available in the Beta
The following characters will be included in the Mortal Kombat 1 beta:
- Liu Kang
- Kenshi
- Sub Zero
- Li Mei
- Kitana
- Johnny Cage
Additionally, the following Kameo fighters will be available for players to access within combat:
- Sonya
- Jax
- Frost
- Kano

- and more
What Modes Will Be Available in the Beta
The Mortal Kombat 1 beta will feature two modes. First is the Klassic Tower. This mode allows players to fight against computer players to get to the top of the arcade ladder. Fighting game fans will find similarities between this mode and traditional arcade modes from other fighting games.
The second mode the Mortal Kombat 1 beta will include is online multiplayer. If you have access to the beta, you can fight other players that also have the beta. This will likely be the mode that most people will spend their time in.
