Sengoku Youko Manga Gets TV Anime Adaptation

The official website for the Sengoku Youko series reveals a new TV anime adaptation is coming in January 2024. Several details about the Sengoku Youko anime have been revealed, including the main cast, staff, and a new trailer. 

Sengoku Youko is a manga series by creator Satoshi Mizukami that was in serialization from 2007 to 2016. In the manga series, humans and monsters known as katawara are constantly in conflict. Tama is a katawara that loves humans, and her brother Jinka seems to hate humans despite being one himself. The trio is complete with the swordsman Shinsuke, and fans will explore their story in the new anime.

Sengoku Youko Anime Information

The new Sengoku Youko anime will premiere in January 2024 across TOKYO MX, ABC TV, Mētele, and BS Asahi channels in Japan. Sengoku Youko will run for three consecutive cours featuring the World Reform Siblings and Thousand Demons Chaos story arcs, so fans can expect a lot of episodes. The anime is produced by studio WHITE FOX with director Masahiro Aizawa at the helm. Script writer Jukki Hanada, character designer Yousuke Okuda, and composer Evan Call are also working on the anime.

The Japanese voice cast of includes:

  • Sōma Saitō as Jinka
  • Yūki Takada as Tama
  • Ryohei Kimura as Shinsuke
  • Tomoyo Kurosawa as Shakugan
  • Hiroki Nanami as Senya
  • Maaya Uchida as Tsukiko

Where to Watch Sengoku Youko

As previously stated, the Sengoku Youko anime will air on TOKYO MX, ABC TV, Mētele, and BS Asahi channels in Japan this upcoming January. A distributor has not been announced for overseas streaming just yet. The official website is now live and will likely receive more updates soon.

The world is divided into two factions: humans and monsters called katawara. Despite being a katawara, Tama loves humans and vows to protect them from evil, even if it means fighting her own kind. Her brother Jinka, however, hates humans, despite mostly being one. The siblings are joined by a cowardly swordsman named Shinsuke, who wants to learn how to become strong.
