What could it be?!

Capcom has hinted at a significant unannounced game currently in development. The information was revealed in a recent stockholder meeting. Nothing is known about the upcoming game except that they plan to release it by March 2024. Additionally, Capcom expects it to “sell millions.”

Recently, Capcom has had a series of massive successes. From Resident Evil 4 to Street Fighter 6 to Monster Hunter, their games have sold millions of copies and received critical acclaim. While Capcom’s immediate future is relatively unknown, expect to see more information about their 2024 lineup very soon.

An Unannounced Game from Capcom

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

The news first came from Takashi Mochizuki of Bloomberg. He reported vital information from the stockholder meeting, including Capcom’s financial success. In one tweet, he writes that Capcom “plans to release one unannounced game, which would sell millions, by March next year.” The announcement follows Capcom acquiring Swordcanes Studio, an animation company known for its work on Hi-Fi Rush and Monster Hunter Rise/Sunbreak.

Though it is impossible to guess Capcom’s plan for the future, the unannounced game set to release by 2024 is likely a new Monster Hunter. It’s been two years since the release of Monster Hunter Rise and one year since its expansion, Sunbreak. Capcom initially designed Rise for the Nintendo Switch and released it on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC over time. At the moment, there hasn’t been a Monster Hunter game made for next-generation consoles. Additionally, Monster Hunter is Capcom’s best-selling franchise, with Monster Hunter World selling double the copies that Resident Evil 2 Remake. Despite this, it is hard to tell what Capcom’s unannounced game will be.

Capcom’s most recent games are the Resident Evil 4 Remake and Street Fighter 6. Both are available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Street Fighter 6 recently received a new character in the form of fan-favorite Rashid.
