    Capcom Announces Acquisition of Swordcanes Studio

    Recent works include Hi-Fi RUSH, Street Fighter 6, and Final Fantasy XVI.

    Capcom announced the successful acquisition of Swordcanes Studio, an animation studio that recently worked on both Street Fighter 6 and Final Fantasy XVI. The studio will now be a wholly owned subsidiary of Capcom since the company acquired all of the shares. 

    Swordcanes Studio’s most recent works include animation work for Street Fighter 6 and character model production on Final Fantasy XVI. Additionally, Swordcanes Studio handled cooperative production on Hi-Fi RUSH with Tango Gameworks and animation work on Monster Hunter Rise and its expansion, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, with Capcom. The expertise at Swordcanes Studio is already well acquainted with Capcom projects, so this appears to have been a clear step forward for Capcom.

    Swordcanes’ strength lies in 3D computer graphics production technology in consumer home video game development and the studio has carried out work on major Capcom titles in the past. As such, Capcom decided to make the studio its wholly-owned subsidiary to sustainably bolster its developmental and technological capabilities.

    Going forward, Capcom will continue to explore the acquisition of necessary technological capabilities in order to enhance its game development organization.
